Today we heard of the peaceful passing of John Walton of the world famous
Hillpark Welsh Springers. John had been unwell for some time and Anne had
reluctantly taken steps to supply him with residential care over the last
few years. Whilst his heart was always with Welsh Springers, he never showed
or judged them - remaining behind the scenes. He was Anne's rock and
support. We send our deepest sympathy from the Officers, Committee and
members of the North of England WSSC to Anne and family on this sad
occasion. Funeral arrangments will be notified when known

The Kennel Club have stated that - 'The Welsh Sringer Spaniel
has been added to the vulnerable native British and Irish breeds list(as of
1st January 2017) for the first time after it had only had 299 registrations
in 2016'

As part of the ongoing Canine Genome Project we have now been advised that
they are focusing on Epilepsy in the Welsh Springer Spaniel.  We have
therefore been requested to provide the names of 3 fitting dogs, still
living, who have undergone the full criteria of clinical tests including an
MRI.  Initially a DNA cheek swab sample will be required.
If you know of a suitable dog, whose owner would be willing to help, the JHG
Secretary would be pleased to hear from you on:
